Last updated: 21 October 2026

1. Introduction

MySA is a division of Mysatech. This Privacy Policy explains how Mysatech collects, uses, stores and shares personal information when you use the MySA website, app, features and related services (“MySA”).

We take your privacy seriously. We handle personal information in accordance with applicable data-protection laws, including South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (“POPIA”).

2. Who is responsible for your information?

For purposes of this Privacy Policy, Mysatech is responsible for the personal information processed through MySA.

Before publishing this policy, add Mysatech’s full legal name and business address here:

3. Information we collect

The information we collect depends on how you use MySA. It may include:

  • Account information: such as your name, email address, username, profile photo and other details you choose to add to your account or profile.

  • Content you share: such as posts, comments, photos, videos, audio, links, messages and other material you submit.

  • Technical and usage information: such as your IP address, browser and device details, pages visited, referring or exit pages, clicks, approximate location derived from technical information, and the date and time of activity.

  • Communications with us: such as emails, support requests and our responses.

  • Invitation information: if you use an invitation feature, we may collect the email address of the person you invite to send the invitation and record whether it was accepted.

Some information is needed to create and maintain an account or provide a requested feature. If you choose not to provide it, that feature or service may not be available to you.

4. How we use information

We may use personal information to:

  • Create, manage and secure your account.

  • Provide MySA features and display your profile and content according to your settings.

  • Remember your preferences and help you access MySA.

  • Communicate with you about your account, service notices, support requests and changes to MySA.

  • Send marketing messages where permitted. You can opt out using the instructions in the message or available account settings.

  • Understand how MySA is used, improve its features and diagnose technical problems.

  • Monitor service performance, traffic and broad usage patterns.

  • Detect, prevent and investigate fraud, security incidents, misuse and breaches of our Terms of Use.

  • Meet legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

5. Profiles, posts and public information

Information you choose to make public on your profile, along with content you post publicly, may be visible to other MySA users. Depending on the feature and your settings, public content may also be accessible outside MySA, indexed by search engines, copied, shared or republished by others.

Please think carefully before posting information you do not want others to see. Removing a post from MySA may not remove copies that other people have saved, shared or republished, or information retained in backups or where retention is required for legal, security or operational reasons.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

MySA may use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, support security and understand how the service is used.

Some cookies are temporary and expire when you close your browser. Others may remain on your device until they expire or you delete them. You can manage or block cookies through your browser settings, but some MySA features may not work properly if you do.

7. Analytics and advertising

Where enabled, we may use analytics services, which may include Google Analytics or Mixpanel, to understand how people use MySA and help improve the service. These providers may receive technical and usage information, such as browser details, cookies, IP address and page activity. Their handling of information is also governed by their own privacy policies.

If third-party advertisements are displayed on MySA, advertising providers may use cookies or similar technologies to deliver or measure ads. Those providers handle information under their own privacy policies. We do not intentionally provide advertisers with your directly identifying account information for their own use unless you have agreed or the law permits it.

8. When we share information

We may share personal information:

  • With service providers that help us host, maintain, secure, analyse or support MySA. They may use the information only to provide services to us and must protect it appropriately.

  • When you choose to connect to or share information with a third-party service.

  • When you make information or content public through MySA.

  • When disclosure is required or permitted by law, a court order or a lawful request.

  • When reasonably necessary to protect users, investigate fraud or security issues, enforce our Terms of Use, or protect Mysatech’s rights and property.

We do not sell your personal information as part of the services described in this policy.

9. Storage and transfers

Mysatech and its service providers may store or process information on systems located outside your country, including on hosting-provider servers. Where personal information is transferred across borders, Mysatech will take steps required by applicable law to ensure the transfer is permitted and that appropriate safeguards apply.

10. How long we keep information

We keep personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing MySA, maintaining account security, resolving disputes and meeting legal obligations.

When information is no longer required, we will take reasonable steps to delete, destroy or de-identify it, subject to legal, security, backup and operational requirements.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal information against loss, misuse, unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration or destruction.

No online service or method of storage can be guaranteed completely secure. If a security incident affects personal information, Mysatech will take steps required by applicable law.

12. Your choices and privacy rights

You can review and update certain account details and communication preferences through your account settings. You can opt out of marketing messages using the instructions in those messages.

Subject to applicable law, you may also request access to your personal information, ask for inaccurate information to be corrected, or request deletion. You may object to or ask us to restrict certain processing where the law gives you that right. We may need to verify your identity and may retain some information where legally permitted or required.

To make a privacy request, contact Mysatech using the contact details provided on MySA.

13. Children’s information

MySA requires users to be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must be involved and provide consent where required by applicable law.

If we become aware that personal information has been collected from a child without a required legal basis or consent, we will take reasonable steps to address it.

14. Third-party websites and services

MySA may link to websites or services operated by other organisations. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those services, and Mysatech is not responsible for their privacy practices. Please review the privacy policy of any third-party service you use.

15. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as MySA changes or when legal or operational requirements change. We will post the updated version on MySA and revise the “Last updated” date. If a change is significant, we will provide additional notice where reasonably practical.

16. Contact and complaints

For questions, privacy requests or concerns about how your information is handled, contact Mysatech using the contact details provided on MySA.

If you are not satisfied with how a privacy concern has been handled, you may have the right to lodge a complaint with South Africa’s Information Regulator.
